Lydia to Receive CAPA Award!

PA3's own Lydia Zaininger '83 has been selected as the 2017 recipient of the prestigious Alumni Council Committee on Academic Programs for Alumni (CAPA) Award for Excellence in Alumni Education. The award has been presented annually by CAPA since 2003 to an individual or group who has made an outstanding contribution to alumni education at Princeton, with a special emphasis placed on service over a significant period of time. Lydia is being honored for her service and commitment as an active member and activities chair of PA3 and as the organizer extraordinaire of the fabulous First Fridays luncheon series. The award will be presented at the Alumni Council Luncheon this Friday, June 2. Congratulations Lydia on this achievement.

Earth Day community service: PA3 members joined the Penn Club of Central New Jersey in Clean Ocean Action's 32nd Annual Beach Sweep in Long Branch NJ!  They had a great time AND made a clean sweep!  See photos below.  Join us next year!

Jim Farrin, Class of 1958 and Walter Fortson, formerly incarcerated spokesman of The Petey Greene Program, will speak about the program's mission to supplement education in correctional institutions by preparing volunteers, primarily college students, to provide free, quality tutoring and related programming to support the academic achievement of incarcerated people.

The Petey Greene Program was founded by Charles Puttkamer '58 and the program was selected as the 50th reunion Service Project for the Class of 1958 in 2008.

Thanksgiving Host Family Request

This year Princeton students/scholars from around the world will be offered the opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving with an American host family in the local area through a program hosted by the Davis International Center. Princeton international students/scholars will be matched with volunteering families who will share their Thanksgiving celebration. Both international students/scholars have the chance to learn more about each others’ cultures and foster new friendships. Students/Scholars will be matched with hosts on a first-come-first-serve basis. While it is possible that there may not be enough hosts or students for all interested parties, every effort will be made to satisfy requests.

 

If you have room at your Thanksgiving table for an international student/scholar, please send the following information to Hanna Hand, hhand@princeton.edu, no later than Wednesday, November 9
