PA3 Virtual Wine Tasting
Dear PA3 members,
It has been over a year since we held our last wine tasting event. Recalling the fun of that event, and undaunted by Covid-19, we are organizing a virtual wine tasting event for the evening of July 7. We have arranged with a local liquor store to make available for purchase at moderate cost a selection of four wines. Via Zoom, a sommelier will guide us as we enjoy these wines from the comfort of our homes. Complementary cheese courses are identified and optional. Details on how to purchase the wine, the recommended cheeses, and instructions for the call may be found below.
Hoping to share a glass with you, and with kind regards,
Tom

One of our members has arranged with Public, the liquor store on Witherspoon St., to do a wine tasting for us. Our certified sommelier for the evening will be Sebastian Koncurat who has 20 years of experience in the wine and culinary industries. The 4 wines offered for tasting are in the link below. For full description of wines offered, please email Mo for a PDF.
Public asks that we each buy our wine by 6:00 p.m., this coming Monday, June 29. The link is here.
Public offers free delivery to the following zip codes: 08502, 08504, 08525, 08528, 08534, 08536, 08540, 08542, 08553, and 08558. If you live outside these zip codes, you can still participate if you order online and pick up at the store.
Public does not sell cheese but can recommend some that would pair well with each of the wines:
1. Piave Vecchio - Veneto, Cow milk. Medium hard. Good pairing with the Breganze Pinot Grigio
2. Pecorino Romano - Sheep milk. Medium hard firm, slightly salty. Origin: Lazio, suggested to accompany the Prosecco.
3. Stella Fontinella, Cow Milk, sweet and spicy, hint of sharpness. Ideally for the Apassimento Pasqua red blend
4. Parmigiano, Cow milk, Emilia Romana, hard and firm. Suggested for the Valtellina Nebbiolo Sassela
Again, please email Mo with any questions: mochen1746@outlook.com.

Join the Tigers Helping NJ
A message from Sunny Sandhu '20:
We're excited to share the #TigersHelpingNJ campaign that was independently organized by Princeton athletes, current and alums, in support of Connect for COVID-19, a nonprofit organization raising money to donate devices to quarantined hospital patients who have no way of staying connected to their family. This group of Princeton students and alums started a fundraising campaign challenging members of the Princeton athlete family to support this cause with a focus on donating as many devices as possible to the state of the New Jersey. They enlisted the support of legendary athlete alumni like Jason Garrett, Craig Robinson, Dean Cain, and many more to raise almost $14,000 in donations in one week! You can read about them in our very own Daily Princetonian point to that impact.
In partnership with the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund, they will be donating these funds for the purchase of tablets for NJ hospitals in need. Every $1,000 raised means that another 200 families will be connected. There are few ways you can support:
- Donate directly to the GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/f/tigershelpingnj. Donations above $1K are tax deductible.
- Involve your organization to consider matching their fundraised amount of $14,000 to purchase tablets for NJ hospitals with Covid-19 patients.
- Engage your organization to donate excess devices to this cause.
If you have social media, please share with others the information about this cause here on their website: https://www.dhcproject.org/tigershelpingnj
And please continue the movement by challenging your classmates to support this cause. You can make a video and post on social media like many alumni have done, or simply make a call and connect us with others in your Tiger family so that we can connect as many patients to their families as possible.

Author/Interviewer: Jennifer S. Hirsch, PhD, Professor of Sociomedical Sciences, Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University; Elizabeth Mitchell Armstrong *93, PhD, MPA, Associate Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs, Princeton University; Mary Devellis ’21 (Question Moderator)
At this moment of global pandemic, public health is more visible than ever. But public health’s core mission – to build communities in which everyone can thrive – extends beyond infectious diseases. Join us to hear Jennifer S. Hirsch, ’88 and Elizabeth M. Armstrong *93, discussing Hirsch’s groundbreaking new book, which applies a public health optic to campus sexual assault: Sexual Citizens: A Landmark Study of Sex, Power and Assault on Campus (coauthored with Shamus Khan, published by WW Norton and featured recently in PAW).
Sexual Citizens is transforming how people understand and address the most misunderstood problem on college campuses: widespread sexual assault. Drawing on their extended research on the Columbia and Barnard campuses, Hirsch and Khan present intimate portraits of life and sex among students in a way that pulls back the curtain on what it is like to be in college today. They present an entirely new way to understand sexual assault, focusing on its social roots. Their insights transcending current debates about consent, predators in a “hunting ground,” or the dangers of hooking up. Sexual Citizens points to what everyone – parents, K-12 schools, faith-based organizations, elected officials, and institutions of higher education – can do to reduce the risk of sexual assault, in college and more generally. Participants should be advised that Hirsch and Armstrong’s discussion of Sexual Citizens will include descriptions of actual sexual assaults, as students recounted them.
