Thanks, everyone, for your votes! The Lowland by far had the highest number of first picks, so it will be our December read. Perhaps we can do the second most popular choice, Far From the Tree, by Andrew Solomon, early next year. It is quite a long book, as one member pointed out.
- The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri, Pulitzer Prize winning author
- Lahiri is currently Professor of Creative Writing at Princeton's Lewis Center (http://arts.princeton.edu/people/profiles/jl35). I plan to reach out to Professor Lahiri and inquire about the possibility of having her join the group for part of the meeting.
- In Brief: "Two brothers bound by tragedy; a fiercely brilliant woman haunted by her past; a country torn by revolution: the Pulitzer Prize winner and #1 New York Times best-selling author gives us a powerful new novel—set in both India and America—that explores the price of idealism and a love that can last long past death."
Date and Location: Tuesday, December 8th (7-9pm), East Pyne 111
